‘I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers fear.’ ~ Nelson Mandela
Great words from an extraordinary man.
Hello, my name is GRIT, you will know me as the Courage Bhoomie. Today I am going to share with you the secret of my gift:
I am not sure that I am always that courageous, but I learned that courage is something that comes from deep inside. I got my name from a little courageous bird that let me help him to trust his wings, but that’s another story. Here is what I would like to tell you today:
Courage can sometimes be a tricky thing.
Who wouldn’t like to be courageous?
But when it is needed, right there in that very moment, it is sometimes hard to grab that feeling inside and do the right thing for yourself, in that very moment. Apart from it being hard to tell what exactly the right thing is, fear is probably the most common thing to get in the way.
But do not worry Bhoomies!
Fear is one of the most normal feelings in the world ~ everybody knows it, everybody experiences it. Fears begin when we are very small and can build into big ones, but its okay because as soon as we face our fears, that energy disappears in the same way it arrives.
It can be silly things, like being afraid of missing the opening of the long awaited final, in which your favorite football team is hoping to win their first title for years. The fear that you may never see your loved one again, when they leave the room. Or that imaginary monster under your bed… (Don’t worry I got rid of it yesterday 😉 )
Many people are afraid because they don’t know what to do with their lives. They have dreams, but they would never allow themselves to follow, as it might seem too crazy, unrealistic, out of the ordinary, etc. So they often make the “expected choices”, the “sensible” ones.
Don’t think that I, Courage Bhoomie, always know exactly what I want to do with my life. I don’t, but I do try to follow my heart and be true to myself.
Following my intuition, always leads me to the right places, and I have been getting some helpful tips, from my great friend Bhoomie All-ears.
Sometimes I do crazy things which often enough leads to falling on my nose, but what does it matter when I always bounce back again. Often, I have to do something over and over, before I fully learn the lesson.
From time to time, I do exactly the right thing, and this time I mean RIGHT as in it feels right. Feeling I have done the right thing, when I have taken a leap of faith and jumped, is the greatest feeling in the world and is worth gaining a few bruises along the way, as they soon heal.
Here is a little exercise for you all.
Write down on a piece of paper what you want to do, list what you are scared of and try to find solutions and seek help from others, to break your fear.
Then Get Up. Close your eyes. Spread your wings (or your arms). Take a deep breath…and…LEAP!!!!!
Hoorrrrraaaaayyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heaps of courage to you
Grit (Courage Bhoomie)
